TIPS & USEFUL RESOURCES

In this section you can find some tips that can help you improve your learning process as well as some reliable resources you can check anytime.

It is very important to bare in mind that each person has different learning skills and that you must find that you that fits you the best, so if you try one of these and it does not work, do NEVER give up and KEEP trying until you find the perfect for you!

Tips

  • Read books. There is a wide variety of books of different levels and it is a great way to get new vocabulary and check different structures in English. Start with books for kids and move on to higher levels as you increase your knowledge.
  • Listen as much as you can. Listen to native speakers to catch the pronunciation and the "real English" (English outside of the classroom). Besides, it is very positive to watch movies and tv shows with English subtitles (using captions in your own language would make you feel more focused on what you are reading rather listening).
  • Practice speaking. At home, with friends, online... it does not matter! Practicing speaking will gradually make it easier for you to think in English and express your thoughts aloud.
  • Find the perfect way for you to learn. Find a way that really motivates you as you will learn without noticing.
  • Set yourself future goals such as traveling and be able to speak with native speakers.
  • NEVER GIVE UP! Learning a language is never easy, but effort is absolutely worthy, so believe in yourself and never give up.

Useful  Resources

If you ever need to check any word or expression, I would highly recommend to use the following resources since other sites are not 100% reliable.

  • Merriam-Webster: this dictionary will provide you with a list of the most researched words, a word of the day so you can widen your vocabulary, games and quizzes, a wide variety of meanings and a thesaurus (an online dictionary alphabetically organized just as a physical one).
  • Cambridge Dictionary: you can find translations from English to another language and the other way round.
  • Collins Dictionary: you can also find some games related to grammar, vocabulary, collocation in English and more, as well as games for other languages.
  • Macmillan Dictionary: a very complete dictionary that will provide you with games, videos and explanations, as well as synonyms, meanings and pronunciation.
  • Oxford Learner's Dictionaries: this dictionary is also very helpful to check the differences between English and American English.
